New P32: need some suggestions

Got a new P32 a few days ago, and need some suggestions/recommedation for the following:

1. Carry ammo - from searching previous threads, it seems some prefer FMJ over HP in .32 ACP to get better penetration (also remember seeing something about a flat-nose FMJ that sounded interesting)

2. Pocket holster - I got an Uncle Mike's pocket holster for now, but would like something a little more "substantial."

3. Spare mags - anyone have any experience with the new 10-round mags?

4. Anything else worth mentioning.

Thanks in advance.

New P32

I have 2 of the 10 round mags and they make the p32 much easier to shoot, they extend the grip almost an inch. I put 11 lb Wolff recoil spring in. Also go to www.ktog.com sight and read about fluff and buff. On all my semi-auto I polish the feed ramp. I carry mine all the time in my back pocket and I noticed some light rust starting om the slide, so I sent it back to Kel-tec to get the slide, barrel, and assembly pin hard chromed.Cost $20.00 and they pay the shipping back to you.

Greetings.... I bought the P33 as soon as I could find one... been a great little pocket gun for well over a year now. I carry Cor-Bon 60gr JHP, because it the numbers seem to be alot more potent than the other .32ACP loads, which were loaded primarily for blowback operated pistols. As for the holster, I too bought the little Uncle Mikes the same day I bought the gun with every intention of buying a better one... but I've been so satisfied with the cheap little thing I've never gotten around to it. Now, for "anything else" I found the sights a little confusing as they came. I was having trouble telling one white blob (the front sight) from the other white blob (the rear sight). I scraped the paint out of the rear sight and repainted it bright orange. Now I put the white blob on target and on top of the orange blob and I'm good to go. I don't know if anyone else would even need this, but it sure helped me. Just my $1/50... enjoy your new gun!!

Here are some great pocket holsters for the P-32:

http://www.hedleyholsters.com

The quality of these holsters is top notch.

[Just tried the Hedley holster link, the address is correct but it didn't work, may be down for maintenance. It worked this morning. Try later if it doesn't work for you]

Here is another good site:

http://www.goldenloki.com

Pay particular attention to the "lubrication guide" at the P-32 link.
Lightly grease the slide rails and hammer/slide interface, oil or whatever else you want to use on the other areas.

Good info. on ammo there also.

I use the Hadley back pocket holster with my P32, works like a champ.

I think the 10 round magazines are pretty silly for a gun of this type. If you really want a bigger gun, buy a bigger gun! The whole reason to buy and carry the P32 is the size, and making the grip an inch longer doesn't seem to make much sense to me! I also don't buy the malarky of practicing with the 10 round magazines. then carrying it with the stock magazines. If you haven't practiced with the stock magazines, you won't know where the shots are going to go when the SHTF and you really need to put the rounds on-target. I'd get used to the stock magazines and shoot it with those. If you want to make it a tad easier to shoot with the stock magazines, you can buy the finger rests from the NAA website, they're very easy to adapt to the Keltec magazines, and they add a fraction of the size of the 10 round magazine. They do help in muzzle control with the little P32...

I second the 60gr JHP from Cor-bon whole heartedly!
The energy levels from this round exceed any current FMJ or JHP on the market today, most by a considerable margin.
They expand in most situations, and when they don't, they penetrate exactly like hot FMJs, but with a blunt snout cutting it's way through causing more damage.

IMO, this load offers the best the .32acp JHP is capable of, expansion, penetration particularly. Over-penetration with FMJ is a reality with the tapered ogive the .32acp possesses... but using them is completely understandable considering the JHP offerings of yesterday were both anemic (yes, Winchester's 60gr Silvertip is rather anemic energy-wise, and this only slightly bested by Speer's Gold Dot entry and some others) and offered chancy penetration if expanded (about 5-6 inches).

However, now we have a hot new cat on the market (Cor-Bon's 60gr JHP) that offers the same weight grain as the Silvertip yet yields 200+ FPS greater velocity. Energy levels are nipping at the heels of common .380acp loads.

Expansion is a given against light/moderate clothing while still offering easily acceptable penetration (and average of 8-9 inches from my tests). If by chance it should become clogged on heavy clothing, penetration should closely mimic hardball while cutting a more serious wound channel along the way (flat JHP profile as opposed to the roundish-tapered profile of typical FMJs of the caliber).

Now then, don't get me wrong, I certainly don't mean to vituperate the much beloved Silvertip... she holds a fairly respectable street record, but as more information on actual shootings involving the far hotter Cor-Bon trickle in from the field, I believe we may eventually see our beloved Silvertip slip into semi-obsolescence for use in the locked-breech P32. However, the old Silvertip will always be a top number in most small blowbacks, and the staple of the Seecamps.

Below are results from tests I conducted a few months ago...
They include the excellent 65gr Fed. Hydra-Shok, the deep-digging 60gr Hornady XTP, the venerable 60gr Win. Silvertip and the high-energy 60gr Cor-bon.

It seems like the chromed P32s might be more reliable than the stock blued guns. Maybe the surfaces are a little slicker?

Kel-Tec will swap out your blued parts for chromed ones for $20.

I just ordered one of the Hedley pocket holsters the other day. I'll post more on it as soon as I recieve her.

As for my P32 I've decided on a mix of ammo. 4 Silvertips followed by 4 Winchester FMJ's. I may just decide to just carry FMJ's if it ever gets cold enough here. So far this has been one of the mildest winters I have ever experienced. It's almost January and I have yet to wear my jacket. With light clothing the Silvertips should have adequate penetration. The last 4 are just in case.

I also plan on sending her in for the hard chrome treatment once the weather turns a bit colder and I go to jacket weather. Right now she's a bit too indespensible as a hot weather gun.

My biggest reccomendation would be to at least put a couple of boxes through your weapon before relying on it too much. You definitely don't want a surprise.

Good Shooting
