New or Old FEG PJK

How can one quickly tell the difference between the new(3 lugs) and the old(real clone 2 lug) version? There are many on the net, but all anyone can go buy are the pictures.

I think the new ones will be called the P9M not a PJK-9HP. Visually, they seem to look the same. I would be curious to hear from people if the new ones are of higher quality or not...

I could be wrong, but I think the model PJK-9HP is the "true" BHP clone, regardless of whether it's new or old.

The PJK-9HP is the "true" clone and is mostly interchangeable with the Hi-Power. It also has the smaller ejection port, tiny safety and small sights of the older Hi-Powers.

The P9M is a bit of an upgrade with higher visibility sights and a bigger ambi safety similar to that used on the MkII/MkIII Hi-Powers. The downside is slightly different internals and a 3-lug barrel.

Look at the slide stop on the left hand side. The old true clone models have the large round shaped end of the lever, the new ones look like the lever on a 1911.

Mine is a PJK-9HP, but it did not come with the tiny safety. It actually has a usable single-side safety, and while the sights are small, they are not unusable. The barrel on mine is two lug.

Mine is also the 9HP model, and the sights are very decent white dot models, and I see nothing wrong with the safety on mine, it is very usable. My only issue with my gun is the trigger is a bit heavier than I like, I'm planning on addressing that one of these days.

Since some seem to disagree with my subjective judgement of tiny safety and tiny sights, here's a picture of a PJK-9HP so you can judge for yourself. This one is either a later 9HP or has been fitted with an aftermarket safety as the ones I am familiar with have the same tiny safety as the original Hi-Powers.

I couldn't find a picture of a P9M for comparison (the picture on FEGs website for the P9M is an actual Browning Hi-Power and an older one at that) but it has a safety that looks very much like the ambi safety on new Hi-Powers and sights comparable to the MkII/MkIII series Hi-Powers as well.

My FEG PJK-9HP also looks exactly like that picture. I guess I don't see where the sights are all that bad, certainly vastly superior to the sights on something like a Mak, and very usable as they are. They are, after all, fixed sights on a $200 pistol! :)

I've been wanting to make some changes to mine, just never got around to it. I want to add Novak sights, have some trigger work done, and do a little work to the safety. It is decently sized, but it doesn't engage as positively as I'd like. I'd like to refinish mine in a matte blue or parkerized. Other than that, I'm satisfied with it.

Mine is a little different. I don't know what year it was made but I have had it for 13 or 14 years and I got it used. It has two locking lugs and says PJK-9HP on the slide. I assume this is the small safety (left side only) and I don't know what type of slide release it is. The mag safety has been removed and this greatly improved the trigger pull.

I believe this falls in to the 'old' catagory and that it will swap parts with a BHP (P-35?).

AFAIK, any of the FEG PJK-9HP guns are parts compatible with the BHP, the basic design didn't change, just small changes in the shape of the safety, sights, etc.
