11/111 Hog Hunter

20" threaded barrel for brake or suppressor
.223 Rem, .308 Win, and .338 Win
Weight 7.2 lbs .223/.308 8 lbs .338 Win

I think they should have offered it in .300 AAC for night time suppressed pig thumping.

116 Alaskan Brush Hunter

18" barrel
.338 Win and .375 Ruger
Weight 7.6 lbs

I would have liked to have seen a ghost ring rear sight vs. the current one.

Looks like they took the Stevens 200 stocks for the Pig Hunter and Alaskan and gave them some color, sure would think the Accustock would have been a better choice in the magnum calibers.

16/116 Bear Hunter

23" barrel
.300 WSM, .325 WSM, .300 Win, .338 Win, and .375 Ruger
7.5 lbs WSM and 7.75 lbs Win Mag and Ruger

At least this rifle got the Accustock.

I'm pretty interested in the Pig Hunter and Alaskan rifles.

All,very pretty indeed....I have shot and owned many rifles in my life time. But to me,and for the price, you can not beat a savage..years ago I had a 223 in model 110 and out shot the marine corp legue with it two years in a row...So give me a Savage any day.....

I had a laminate stocked 110 in .270 winchester many years ago,
that would put a full magazine(5 shots) under a quarter @ 100 yds.
loved that gun!
I like that bear hunter in .325 wsm

Savage scout rifle 7.62x39

Just went to the Savage on line site and browsed their on-lin catalog. I saw thier Scout-Rifle is offered in 2 calibers. 308 Win and 7.62x39mm.
Very interesting, Very interesting.

They continue to get uglier and uglier.. hopefully they continue to make them more and more accurate to make up for it. I guess I just have something against short barrels.. but if I was a pig hunter, I do see how that could be nice.. sights and a short barrel.

I do like they aren't afraid to design rifles with a specific purpose. So many of the other manufacturers seem to just produce a basic design and all you get it difference in the stock and caliber.

If they'd make a left-handed Axis, I'd put three on order tomorrow. I've got a passle of left-handed grandkids who are going to need rifles.

The Hog Hunter in .308 would be a good deer rifle for hilly and heavy cover terrain where most shots are short. It has the short barrel for maneuverability, but unlike the Rem Model Seven with its No 1 contour barrel, it has a heavy enough barrel that rounds will not start walking after just a few shots.

Taylorce1, I disagree about the "ghost-ring" rear sight, only because it's easier to pick up (in your sights) "deadly game" such as bear, or let's say Charging Brown bear, with the rear blade. ;)

P.S. I love my Savage!!:):):):) also no need for Accustocks on short magnum barrels, actually they are better suited for "beanfield" type rifle barrels, and or long range shooting.
