Please post up a review on it once it arrives, I have been considering one for years but just keep using the ol Chrony, and buying powder and bullets with the extra cash instead of the 35.
Curious as to what happened to your old Oehler 35? I have an Oehler 35P that I've had since the 80's. It quit reading velocities and acting strange. Called Oehler and they said clean the plugs on the skyscreens with a piece of leather or course cloth. Nothing abrasive. I polished the plugs and cleaned with electronic cleaner and it works perfectly again. They said over long periods of time the metal of the plug ins oxidize a little and cleaning off the oxidation that you can't even see, will fix the issues I was having.
Sorry I just reread your post and you said Oehler 33 instead of 35.
HAVE one of each, 33 and 35P, and both are going strong since I got the first, the 33, in 1983. The 35P was obtained a bit later to also obtain downange ballistics simultaneously.
And so it goes...
PS: My first was a model 10. WHO remembers those ??
Anyone use the the 35P with the 2' rod (just two screens), rather than the 4' rod (3 screens with two readings)?
I only have the 2' rod and two screens (no verification 2nd reading), and it sucks - very crazy readouts. Have to ignore/ discard most. Need the longer pole and additional screen.
My old 33 has a manual setting inside the cover to specify the spacing. I've used a 6' and a 4' successfully. You'll be amazed at how helpful the Oehler folks are.
I've been running a 2-foot bar/single swivel-head photo tripod
for a dozen years. Totally reliable/simple to set up each time/
-everything [including tripod] goes into a single guncase that
I bought after the original cardboard shipping box got worn to
a frazzle.
