New NAA Guardian Impressions

Picked it up yesterday and took it to the range today. Fit and finish are very good. Put 50rds of Winchester Silvertips thru it without a bobble.Accuracy ? Well lets just say the Sig P-210 doesn't have anything to worry about! It is as accurate as it needs to be for it's purpose. To disassemble this thing it takes 3 hands and 5 feet! There has got to be a better way. All in all I was quite pleased with this pistol and it will make a good carry piece. Recoil didn't seem that bad to me but on 2 different rounds it did sting my trigger finger.

Tom,
You'll get better with the disassembly of your Guardian with practice. However when I take mine down for cleaning I always seem to put a new scratch on the barrel. Silvertips work well for me too. So do both FMJ an HP Fiocchi. Last month I purchased a back pocket holster from RJ Hedley. In my back pocket the Guardian feels lighter. It's a good holster.

 This is hard?
Empty/safe gun & chamber :D

Hold the gun in your left hand, left trigger finger by trigger.

Disasembly is easy. Press slide release button with left thumb & lift rear of slide up and back with right hand. Do much more than that (and removing the grips) and you risk a grumpy NAA service department (though they will still fix it free anyway)

The trick to re-assembly is to pull the trigger 'till the hammer is at about 1/2 cock while reversing the above procedure.

Quick & fast, from a guy who has to clean his about twice a week (d :mad:mn metal unfriendly body)

If yours didn't come with the finger extensions on the magazines, go to the NAA web site and order a set. They make a world of difference in how the pistol feels and especially in controlling the pistol during recoil.

Be warned about the grip extensions, though -- I used to carry mine with them, but when practicing weak-hand shooting, I noted that the mag would occasionally disengage and cause a FTF (even with the heavy mag release installed), so I took them off my mags. YMMV, but since this is a backup-type gun, and weak-hand shooting is a possibility, I opted not to use them. It sure does shoot better with them on otherwise, though.

I shot one at the Rio Salado range a while back. I thought it was a decent little gun for a .32acp. I like my Mustang PocketLite better. The Guardian's trigger is awful out of the box; long, gritty and stagy, with stacking just before the sear breaks. The owner of that pistol and I put about 100 rounds through it that morning and it felt much better at the end of the session.

Guns cause crime like spoons cause Rosie O'Donnell to be fat!

I hunt, therefore I am.

IMHO Grip extensions just make the carry bulkier.
