New MK9, 2nd range trip.

I was really anxious to get through my first 200 rounds, so I could start trying some hollow points, and start carrying my new weapon.

I had shot about 25 rds. Wolf and 50 rds Win. white box when I bought the gun.
Yesterday, I took advantage of the unusually warm weather to burn some vacation time and hit the range.

In pretty quick order, put 50 more Wolf, and 50 more white box through the gun,... then I had to try some jhp!
(I was close to 200 rounds. ;) )

6 rds Federal Hydra-Shok, 18 rds Speer Gold Dot +P, no problems at all.
Recoil was not painful with the +P at all, though I am more accurate with standard pressure ammo.

All in all, the MK9 is a keeper.
Functions with anything that I feed it.
Incredibly accurate.
I can shoot 200 -300 rounds with no discomfort at all.
- The trigger really helps. -
I don't know when I have been more impressed with the out-of-the box quality, functioning, reliability, and accuracy of a gun.
Now I have to start dressing for CCW.
Until now, I have carried a P32 in a Don Hume pocket holster, but I am ready to move up to a "real" gun.

I have an MK9 and like it too. Just out of curiosity, when you say it is incredibly accurate, what kind of groupings do you get and at what distance?

I am new to Kahr with my recent MK9 purchase. It's my first non-glock purchase in many years. I love the way it shoots, very controllable and accurate for a small 9mm.

I'd have to say I shoot it better than my old G26 without a pinky extension. And, it fits a lot better in my pocket than a G26. The MK9 will serve as a great backup to my primary G30.

Do you have the standard or elite trigger? I'm considering retrofitting mine with the elite.

Big:
I didn't measure my groups, but on a standard (B27?) silhoutte, I could easily keep all six shots in the x ring from 12 - 15 ft.
Now, I know I'm not going to the Olympics shooting like that.
I guess what I should have said, is "I shoot incredibly accurate for me. "
I've still got a way to go on my technique, trigger control, stance and grip.
Other than that, I'm an expert. :D

AZsheepdog:
I have the standard trigger.
I am sure that I would like the Elite trigger even better, but I have a hard time imagining a smoother trigger than the gun has now.
I am used to Glock triggers, which I like. Also have a KelTec P32 with a decent trigger. Used to have a KelTec P11 with the worst trigger in history.
Compared to any of these, the Kahr trigger is a breath of fresh air.

Thanks mini14. I just wanted to see how I was doing compared to someone else with an MK9. I love to shoot the gun but I need a LOT of work :0)

Funny that you should mention that you have a Keltec P32. I'm going to a gun show tommorrow and I was thinking about getting one for the heck of it. As a backup for my backup? OTOH since I've got the MK9 that might be a little redundent. Now that you've got both, how do you feel about that?

Are some P32's better than others?

Mini14jac,

I have the MK40. It really mutilates the brass on ejection. IMHO, no point trying to reload the 40. How does the MK9 deal with expended brass? Does it tear it up, dent the crap out of it or is it in good shape? Thanks.

Big Johnson,
I see the P32 as filling a different niche than the MK9.
I tried the MK9 IWB carry this weekend for the first time.
I was surprised at how easy it was.
I'll have to totally adjust my mode of dress for IWB carry.
I usually wear my shirt tucked in.

The P32 on the other hand, can be carried in the pocket of your swim trunks.
It is an excellent deep-backup gun.
Sorry I didn't answer before the gun show. :(

Did you buy anything?

Russ,
Honestly, I haven't looked at the brass yet.
The Wolf is steel cased, but I left the Winchester brass at the range without looking at it. I'll have to check the brass at my next outing.
