Thought I would introduce myself.I have been reading this fourm for 2 mths. and have read almost every post, great info.I was born in1941,joined the Navy at 17 for 6yrs.spent 4yrs on submarines.I retired in 1986.Been shooting since 9.I shot 1000yrd.matches for 8yrs but had to quit due to shoulder surgery that went bad. Im here because I caught the BP bug after a friend bought a 1860 Colt repo and the smoke caused something to go to my brain and I'm infected.I haven't shot BP for 50yrs but am now infected.First I bought a ASM 1851 Colt followed by a ASM Walker then a Uberti Dragoon then a Pietta Remington.Next is going to be a 1860 Colt.I made a case for taking a pair to my range and a loading fixture. Is there any end? Also shown is a non firing Lemat model that I had to have because it is so dang ugly. That's about it for now.I posted photos but have had a problem and hope they show OK.

Welcome aboard! There's no cure for our disease, but you'll find plenty of sympathetic ears (or possibly addiction enablers) here!

Good to have another Sailor around!

So Dinohntr

Tell these heathens. The photos you posted...Are they "Guns"?

Or are they really pistols or revolvers?

Tell these poor souls that "guns" are mounted on the decks of ships....not carried in holsters.

Sorry guys....I could not resist.

Don't want to get into the middle of a argument here on my first post! The photos are of revolvers. We didn't have any guns on the subs I was on but the surface ships had guns mounted on deck.Kind of a grey area in this terminology because on the first diesel boat I was on we had a gun locker where pistols and revolvers were kept and it was marked "Gun Locker"So I can't give a answer. I do know the large caliber weapons mounted on surface ships are called guns. Then there is the handgun,so I guess my photos are of handguns.I always call handguns pistols or revolvers but that don't make the subject set in stone. This is kind of like the "Clip" "Magazine" argument.Have to add a old sub saying,"There are only two types of ships, submarines and targets"

Welcome to the addiction! Everytime I buy one I'm looking forward to when I can get the next. Oh and from now on I'm just gonna call them my ole smoke pole :D

Me too

hello. Just registered here myself, though I've been lurking for a while reading these great members' posts. Have been much enlightened, and will continue to be so. Tip of the hat to all you folks.

Dinohntr and Sandman

Dino,

You are right....

It was premature of me to bring you in to the joke right off the bat. This is a tongue-in-cheek axe I grind periodically and the rest of the folks on the forum know I am kidding so they just ignore me. By the way, the armory on the sub was mislabeled.

:D

Sandman,

Welcome to the group.

You came to the right place.

Welcome to the madness Dinohntr and sandman_nv

Nice collection you have there dino.

Make sure you post some pictures of yours sandman

Don't pay any attention to Doc. He's pretty much harmless :D

Muhaaa Muhaa another one hooked on ....crack BOOM (opps hangfire there) I remember "This is my weapon, This my gun, this is for fightin, this is for fun" lol Welcome also..

Welcome aboard, from a long-time shooter and TFL member ... who only got into BP in the last couple of years.

"Addiction" about describes it. While I have Walkers, Dragoons, and a New Army, my weakness seems to be Ruger Old Armies. I've been shooting Ruger SAs long before I discovered black powder, and when the the BP Bug bit and I fondled my first ROA, I was smitten. My fourth should be delivered later this week.

Long guns, too. Bought a muzzleloader barrel for my T/C Encore, then a couple of Lyman flintlocks. No, I don't think it ever stops ...

I have an addiction? How is getting dressed up in wools(in my case) and playing soldier with real guns, cannons and real horses an addiction? I don't have an addiction its a hobby I swear!
But none the less welcome aboard the best and or worst dirtiest most fun way to enjoy shooting firearms!
I have a 1860 colt, 2nd dragoon, brass sheriff or pocket unknown reproduction, 1858 brass remington 1853 smooth enfield and a rifled barrel for the enfield. Will provide pictures upon request. The want list grows every month...I'm not sick I think.

I know about everyone has probably done it but firing after dark is awsome.I had to do some welding on my target frames and didn't finish till dark,as I already had my Walker loaded (55 gns. Pyrodex P)I didn't want to leave it loaded so I fired the first chamber and wow it was a flamethrower. It was about like my .500 S&W.Would really like to get a photo of it,awsome!

HARMLESS!?

Hey, Fingers,

Go let the air out of your tires and then tell yourself Hoy must have done it.

:D

Tnx,
