I am a brand new member and have enjoyed reading this forum. A lot of great information. I have question I hope is not a stupid question.

I inherited a Smith and Wesson .32 long model 31-1 revolver from my grandfather. I have had it for several years now just tucked away in a drawer. When I was young I hunted and had shotguns and a 30-06 rifle but this is the 1st hand gun I have had. Anyway I want to start shooting it and want to clean it good. So my question is I have a cleaning kit that includes brass wire brushes for the following calibers 45, 40, 357/38, 30, 270, 22 and 17. So first is a brass wire brush along with patches the correct thing to use and then which caliber brush do I use since there is not one for 32 caliber. I would assume to use the 30 caliber.

Thanks for any help given.

The .30 caliber bore brush should work and yes several patches, cleaning solvent and lubricant is really all you need. Why don’t you go to Google and search for some videos related to cleaning S&W revolvers which should get you started.
