new member with a question on ammo

Google is your friend as well as sights like these. I googled "lapua d46" and quicklyd came up with lots of stuff. The D46 is typically Lapua's long range sniper ammo. I didn't dig real deep, but would bet the longer OAL (and your resultant of pressure on closing the bolt) is the bullet engaging the rifling upon chambering. There is no "jump" to the rifling on firing. This is where sniper ammo gets its accuracy.

Likely no issues shooting it, but I would perhaps save it for that big buck during season.

HTH, Okie out
