New member from Sweden with Whitney navy.

Just bought my first cap and ball gun.
I'm thinking bout practice shooting with it in the future.
Anyone with opinions on this gun?

I would like to change the nipples but not sure what's fitting?
Is there some way to get a better sight?
Just ordered triple seven, is 15 grains normal for shooting?
Also, the serial number is 8765. Have it been used in the civil war?

btw i'm looking for a spare percussion cylinder if anybody have one.

Welcome to TFL. While it's your prerogative whether to shoot that Whitney or not, I'd get a new replica instead.

It's quite possible that your Whitney fired shots in anger during the American Civil War. There were no shortage of foreigners who served on either side during the late unpleasantness.

Wish i could get a replica but in Sweden guns are extremely hard regulated.
We have loophole that make it possible to buy guns made before 1890 without a license. I believe most people shooting blackpowder guns in Sweden use antique ones
I guess since the black-market is flooded with guns the government thinks nobody would buy antique guns while for the same money you would easily buy a automatic rifle on the black market.
