New Mel Gibson flick

Check out http://www.ThePatriot.com/ and read some of the copy associated with Mel Gibson's new Revolutionary War flick coming out this summer. Sounds like Braveheart, American style. Lots of pro-independence talk in the hype for the movie, very little of it in a historical context of "this only applied 230 years ago". I'm not sure about Mr. Gibson's political leanings, but I think the movie is one everyone at TFL will enjoy.

I won't go to another Mel Gibson movie.

At first, I liked the 'Lethal Weapon' series, but if you look closely at the first two, you see signs (bumper stickers) on the walls of the police station promoting HCI and they prominently display a 'No NRA' sign (you know, the NRA logo with a red circle/slash).

LW3 is DEFINITELY anti-gun. They talk about Nicks friends and how they are somehow transformed into killers once they get their hands on guns. At the funeral for the one kid, the kid's mother slaps Murtaugh across the face and says that it is his fault. Her son (one of the gang-bangers) was a good boy. 'Get the guns off the street.' They also propogate the myth of 'Cop-killer bullets' in this movie. A 9mm CCB even penetrates a bulldozer blade to get to the bad guy. Mel (Riggs) sneers, 'Cop killers, eh?' after hitting the bad guy in the aformentioned scene with the bad guys own 'Cop-killer bullets.'

These movies are such distortions of the truth that I will not support the Hollywood movie industry that puts out this kind of blatant bulls**t untruths.

Yep from what I have heard Gibson is anti-gun

In fact since he is anti-gun, to me that means he is anti-freedom. For me gun ownership is the pinnacle of all freedoms, the freedom that makes all the rest possible.

It is a shame that he is a hypocrite because Braveheart had Freedom as its central theme. Interesting too 1 of the things the English did to the Scots was DISARM Them. That is why in one of the opening scenes they are attacking with pitchforks and Deer Antlers rather than Two Handed Claymores (The medieval assault weapon).
