Check out www.fsguns.com for updates. It appears that Beretta and Sig will be modifying thier guns for the people of Mass. There is no work from HK or Glock yet though. Glad I bought my Usp compact last year.
I think HK will be able to certify the USP and USP compact relatively easily. They already have a frame-mounted safety. They have a chamber-loaded indicator (i.e., a bit of red paint on the extractor). All they need to do is the drop test, performance test, and stamp the serial number in a super-secret second place.
Regarding the melting point thing, that is in section 16.04 (1). It says that you can't sell a new handgun if the frame, barrel, cylinder, or breech block is "composed of any METAL having a melting point of less than 900 degrees." The HK USP polymer frame is clearly not composed of metal, and thus the melting point does not apply.
Nevertheless, read on down to section 16.04 (3). This section states that 16.04(1) does not apply to any gun which meets the Make and Model Performance Requirements.
Folks, please READ the regulations. They're not very long.

PS. No, I'm not defending the regulations. I think they are ludicrous. Just trying to correct some misconceptions.
M1911: I had not actually seen the regs, but had heard there was a melting point test for the guns. I did not know the test only applied to metal. Just shows how much misinformation is out there.
Thanks for the link to the info.
