New Mass compliant Sigs

I just thought you guys would get a chuckle over this bulls***.
I went to my local dealer the other day and saw the first order of the Klintonized Sig Sauer's. They raised the DA trigger pull to 12 lbs, hand milled a loaded chamber indicator and added a hidden serial number. The price you ask?
A new 226 in 9mm goes for 769.00.
I say go to hell. Maybe its harsh but I am never buying one now.
For all you tfl'ers living in other states, buy up what you can before this happens to you.
Thanks for letting me vent.

jeepster, You didnt tell us what state you're in but I'm guessing it's maybe California? Funny how you should tell us about this new bullsh$t thing. Today my waiting period was and I picked up my SIG 229 :). And yes the DA pull is 12lbs.
$769.00 is a good price for a 226 if you're gettin Nickel/Stainless, or maybe 2-tone.
:D

Every one complained about S&W kissing Ass.
All you SIG fans read this. It seems the built inlocking system Klintone (slap that HO) wanted has been created and sent to market first by SIG. Way to go guys now the other companies will have no excuse.
Maybe they can make a gun with a radio control lock that requires you to call an 800 number and consult with a crisis intervention specialist who would then unlock the gun for you if they felt that the situation warranted deadly force.
The following is from SIGs website:

SIG ARMS TO SHIP ITS HIGH-TECH E.P.L.S. PISTOLS THIS YEAR

EXETER, NH (January 17, 2000) - SIG Arms announced that limited shipments of pistols equipped with its Electronic Personal Locking System (E.P.L.S.) will be made to selected U.S. distributors this year.

The E.P.L.S. system, which was introduced at the 1999 SHOT Show in Atlanta, Georgia, has undergone extensive testing and development by SIG over the past year. Based on the compact framed SIG P229 model, the E.P.L.S. pistols are available in 9mm, .357 SIG and .40 S&W calibers.

SIG's E.P.L.S. pistols include many of the features found on the P229 such as: compact lightweight hard anodized aluminium alloy frame, enclosed steel slide, full length frame rails, hammer forged barrel and chamber, double action/single action, ambidextrous magazine release button, easy assembly and disassembly and a Nitronª finish stainless steel slide.

The E.P.L.S. is designed to be utilized as an additional part of a comprehensive safety and gun handling and storage procedure. It adds the benefit of allowing the user to personally program the locking system and to assign his own individual PIN Code. In addition, the user may pre-preprogram four different modes:

Unlocked/Ready Mode

Locked/Secure Mode

1 Hour Time Delay Locked/Secure Mode

8 Hour Time Delay Locked/Secure Mode

The E.P.L.S. allows the user to "personalize" the system while providing the ability to automatically go into a safe/locked security mode after a set amount of time. Even if the user forgets to set the security mode, the gun, if properly programmed, will automatically return to a locked/secure condition.

The SIG Arms E.P.L.S. is an electro-mechanical system which provides a positive trigger lock for the firearm. By utilizing personalized codes for the individual user, system security is enhanced and unauthorized use minimized. This is especially important in home storage situations.

SIG Arms Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of premier sporting and small arms for the military, law enforcement and civilian markets. A division of a diversified international manufacturing company, SIG Arms' U.S. headquarters is located in Exeter, New Hampshire.

Clownfish, I live in Mass, hence "Mass Compliant".
The standard DA trigger was 10 lbs. These guns have the plain black finish on them.

BTW Walthers are also Mass compliant now. The second serial number they added to the p-99 is worth 90$. The price of the gun went from 609 to 700$. This is at a fairly large dealer outside of a major city.

The EPLS is old news. The EPLS was announced as early 1998 I believe. Sig is only saying that they have it and will sell it. They are not saying that that's all they'll sell, that all their new handguns are going to come that way, and/or that a dealer can only sell certain guns if they want to sell Sigs. They're simply saying, "we have it if you want it".

I doubt that it will sell. A normal P229 can go for $650 and I'm sure the lock adds several hundred dollars to the price tag and I don't know who would actually want one, I wouldn't trust it's reliability. If anything, I think Sig probably built it to deter any heat that might come their way from the evils that unfortunately exist in govt.

BTW, trigger pulls vary on Sigs depending on the model. Some have a standard 10lb pull some have a 12lb pull. I don't know why Sig didn't just paint the extractor tip red for their "loaded-chamber" indicator.

The added weight to the trigger pull is not needed. It is part of the Clinton/Hud agreement to make it difficult for little kiddies to pull the trigger.
Before we jump on Sig remember that because of Mass. law the only guns that can be sold there must meet the new rules. Sig is simply complying with that to allow Mass. citizens access to their product. This does not mean that their guns for sale in other states will have the same features. Sig has actually done Mass. citizens a favor by making guns they can legally buy. The ones that have done a disservice are the politicians that created this madness.
I don't own a Sig nor do I ever plan to own one. Nothing wrong with them, they just aren't my type of gun. I don't care for any of the plastic wonderpistols. At least Sig isn't telling dealers that they can not sell guns that do not meet the Clinton/HUD conspiracy like Smith & Wesson.

I'm with ya. However, I may have some good news for you. If you're in the Boston/North Shore area, Four Seasons Guns in Woburn has Mass compliant P226's and 229's for much less than you've been quoted. 220's are even less. As to the trigger pull, I didn't notice any measurable increase with the new ones. My friend's '94 P229 has a 12 lb pull, as does my '97 P220. I think the Collectors Coin Gallery in Stoneham also has the new SIG pistols for about $100 less than the prices you've indicated. I know they're just dribbling in, so caliber/model choice is assuredly limited. Let us know what you find out! Also, around Boston, I've seen lots of Walther P99's (9 and .40) still at $599 or less, $649 for two-tone. Good luck!

DA pulls on SIG Sauers vary from 11 to 12 pounds. I doubt they did anything new. The loaded chamber indicator is a joke as well as the hidden serial number. I'm sure criminals will now avoid new MA compliant pistols in favor of other "unsafe" ones.

So many pistols, so little money.

Kevinw, I resent that remark !

SigPro's are as much of a Sig as any Sig. Call it "not real" if you wish. But its proven itself to be of high quality and reliable as any sig ive ever seen.

Do you really think Sig would make a polymer pistol to compete with glock, walther,S&W Etc. then make it of less quality as its metal ones?

How dare you !
