"New" Makarov!

Just got my firearm for 2001! From the looks of her she is 99%, still in the cosmoline. Can't wait to get her home tonight with a toothbrush and some CLP. After I'm done, I'll place the Makarov in the freezer, run a long hot shower and than when I'm done I'll roll around on the floor with her (unloaded of course) and let the steam roll off...

Ahhh...Life simple pleasures!:D

$150.00 for a Bulgarian Makarov, with two mag's (same serial numbers) a holster and a cleaning rod!

I think you will be very happy with it, I certainly am pleased with mine (also Bulgarian). It seems like the Makarovs are becoming a bit scarce now.

Does any place still have the East German Maks?

Halo,

Don't know about the East German Makarov's, though I do know that www.makarov.com is def. the site to go to for info.
Unfortunately it's down at the moment and I can't find the "mirror" site!

Congrats on the new Mak!

The serial #'s on my Bulgie Mak don't match, but then they look like they were done by a sixth grader in a mad scribbling spree.

Either way I've been happy with mine.

PS...make sure you use the Wife's toothbrush. No sense in messing up your own! She will love you for it!:D

Good Shooting

What is the going rate of the EG Maks these days? I haven't been able to find any except on auction sites. Would $225 be good? It is more than I would care to spend right now, but I think my Mak collection needs a new addition ;)

East German Makarovs

I've rarely seen them above $200.00 What auction site are you using? You could try the various shows.

I hadn't seen them for more than $200 either, previously. The EGs seem to be harder to find now though, so I don't know if they're commanding more. I think I will hold out and try to find one for $200 or less.

The sites I have been checking are gunbroker.com and auctionarms.com

More East German Mak questions

They are also C&R eligeble. So that can work its popularity, and the market is flooded with the Bulgarian ones. To me, there is no difference, both triggers are excellent, but most who know the Makarov say that the East Germans are the best. Your best bet to get one since I checked both sites, is the Shows

denfoote,

Thanks for the hearty welcome into the "Makarov Collective" (good name for a spy thriller ehh!:) ).
Redleg, thanks for the advice, before I stripped off the cosmoline my wife couldn't pull back the trigger, however once I broke it down and cleaned it all over with CLP and a toothbrush (didn't realize how fun and simple this would be) the trigger pull smoothed out remarkably well.
She was able to pull the trigger after I was done and than we both rolled around on the ground with the Makarov!:D
