Recently got this M96 Swedidh Mauser. It is a CG 1899, 4 digit S/N in pretty good shape. Barrel is not threaded at the end, but it is turned down. Anyone know why they did that?
The rifles with barrels that are threaded are for an adapter for shredding wooden practice bullets. It's the same diameter whether it's threaded or not. So the bayonet fits even if it's threaded.
