Keep in mind the age-old adage of mercantilism: "Somewhere there is someone wanting to buy something." The cynical consumer corollary to that is: "A fool and his money are soon parted."
The ACR stocks were developmental items that didn’t make the cut either as a component or as integrated to a small arms system. The M4’s 7-position stock is the answer to a problem that the individual weapon owner doesn’t have, which is how to accommodate the ergonomic challenge of having many different operators on the same design of equipment. If the standard A1, A2, CAR or improved CAR butt-stock will fit your “reach” then you don’t need to pay upwards of $500 for 6 other positions that don’t. If you are a corporate security company, or a firearm training institute, then it may make more sense. But even then, a bushel basket of the other stock varieties would be less expensive than one of these “golden turkeys.”
Additionally, consider the many holes that are drilled for the “stops”. Rarely does the addition of extra holes equate to increased strength or reliability, especially when drilled into a small aluminum tube which is going to be withstanding the abuse of a combat rifle stock.
Cheek weld issue: if you use a scope on an AR series rifle with integral handle, get a cheek-piece to consistently get your eye up and in line with the exit pupil. If it’s a flattop scope mount or iron sights, then learn to hold the rifle properly.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If it ain’t needed, don’t buy it.
