IMO, the Miltech guns are over priced. No doubt that the Miltech would be a nice gun, but it is just a parts gun for a lot of money. I still see very nice M1 Carbines at local gunshows for $450-500, and they don't need any restoration. I have a pair of them, one from the DCM in the 60's for $17.95, and one I picked up at a gun show a few years ago. Great little guns, and a lot of fun at the range.

I have an IAI M1 Carbine. It's a great little gun. All the parts are new, surplus and the stock is brand new birch, with a ventilated metal handguard. It is very reliable and will hold 2moa with factory ammo. Pretty damn good for a carbine! Actually, it's my wife's gun, but she let's me borrow it from time to time. If you're into collecting, get a GI gun. If you want to shoot, get the IAI. It's btter than the original IMO.

I'm glade you brought this up DUDE... I've been wondering the same thing. The local gunshop here is carrying the IAI. It LOOKS great, but no idea on the reliability. Oh, by the way...is the IAI carbine and the "888" the same gun?

I have the IAI and it became 100% reliable after the first 50 rounds. The only down side is that the metal handguard is too tall, I need to put a lower profile guard on for a better sight picture.
