Just bought a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 A1 Style w/ Flash Compensator.

I wanted a small rifle to do some cheap plinking with and i went through the list of about 8 possible ones. I came across this as i was at the range. A guy came in and had one. It was pretty quiet overall i thought he a silencer on it (couldnt see the end of the barrel from where i was at) at first it looked like an AR-15 5.56 but a few guys kind of huddled around the bay and i walked up.

He said he loves this gun its accurate as can be, easy to take down and you can shoot all day for 25.00 instead of spending 4 times that on 5.56. Although they are two different animals he enjoys it. He was dimeing a 4 inch at 100yds outside and at 150 the same.

He let me shoot it and its all stock. the sights are really straight forward and nicer than what you would think.

I LOVED IT!!!! bought mine yesterday and ran 500 rounds through it with only 2 failure to feeds. and 4 dud shells.

long story short great gun for plinkin and for 450.00 out the door with a free box of shells (500rnd) cant beat it.

is that what your talking about?? looks like a cool little gun

An older guy at our club who runs a casual military (non-comp.) match has a .22 LR insert for his AR's bore.
There might be many more inserts and M&P 15-22s than people would admit.

A friend brought his beautiful Czech 8mm Mauser, Hungarian MN 44 and PSL to the river when the weather was better.

What I enjoyed even more was his M&P (or S&W?) which had a cheap but good scope from Amazon. The sights and magazine feed are Much better than on his GSG .22...no comparison.

The almost zero muzzle rise kept the crosshairs on target, and the reliable magazine made it the most fun gun we had. The targets sank quickly, or kept jumping into the air!

My SKS and Enfield Jungle Carbine were there, but with the .22 and scope, you always see exactly where the round hits on the river bottom, and with a huge quantity of shots for the price, Plus the benefit of no time spent reloading .303 or .308.

That won some award for being awesome, didn't it? Lol.

I am looking into getting a regular S&W AR, anyone have one? Some stats thing said they use the M16 bolt and they actually bother to shot ping hteir blots and stake their gaskey correctly too. Is this the truth?

Might want to start another thread about the centerfire S&W esshobe, but...

My S&W Sport has been stellar. Staked gas key, not sure if they shot peen the bolt or not. M4 cuts.

I call it a 'sleeper' AR15. Everyone came down on the rifle when it first came on the market, calling it "cheap junk" because of the price point, but nobody could give me a reason why not having an M203 cut, lack of dust cover, forward assist and removeable trigger guard was a bad thing.

Blackbeard that is sweet!!! :) thanks for the heads up on the mags. Also a question about bipods for the M&P 15-22lr

I keep reading that if you use the 25 round mags the bipod (IF YOU SHOOT FROM A BENCH WHICH I AM PLANNING TO DO) will bottom out on the table.

I was wondering if you bench shoot what is the model bipod you use and what is the dimentions (HOW HI? LOW)from shortest position to highest?

thank you

ran 300 rounds through it today and its pretty dead on at 50yd and pretty good at 100yds. I am thinking i may need to use a scope after that but i wont grab one until i get more time on the trigger.

Over all its a really nice rifle ;)
