I am about to purchase my first semi-auto. I have the choices narrowed down to the Para Ordnance LDA 45 and the glock 17. I can spend the money but I'm still not sure of which to buy. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I havn't seen the LDA yet but the other Para's I've seen have all been well built and at least as reliable as any other .45
If you want a .45 it should work fine for you. In .45's you should also check out the Glock 30 or 21 both are very well built. The 17 is great too but is very large and not easy to carry but if you don't plan to haul it around with you it is a great shooter.

The LDA is a fine weapon. I just received on for Valentine's Day (My wife and daughter are pretty good to me!). I had a Glock 17 and the PO LDA is a much better weapon. The trigger pull on the LDA sort of reminds me of the Glock- Pull until it's staged and then finish the pull. The LDA has it's quirks though, the slide can't be cycled unless the grip safety is depressed and the disassembly is a tad different from the standard 1911 proceedure. Gotta love the .45 caliber though, 15 .45 ACP rounds total rounds for the LDA (14 in mag plus one in the chamber) vs. 18 9mm rounds total for the Glock (17 in mag plus one in the chamber). If you have any more questions regarding the LDA you can contact me at sbfactry@bcni.net. HTH
