There are so many bills moving in the different states it is difficult to keep up with them all. Many are pro gun but there are some that would restrict firearms. Numerous states have bills pending in the Legislature, awaiting a Governors signature and others that have passed and signed and will not go into effect in the months ahead.
Starting July 1, 2014 Indiana will allow firearms to be stored in vehicles on school property as long as it stays out of site and the vehicle is locked or the firearm is locked in the trunk. They also removed the roving school zone. Now the facility must be exclusively used for a school function to be off limits. When this change goes into effect if a group of schools kids showed up at the Zoo the whole Zoo will no longer be considered a School Zone. http://iga.in.gov/legislative/2014/bills/senate/229/#
West Virginia (My home State) has passed a new preemption law that goes into effect July 1. 2014. It removes the grandfathered laws that certain cities had concerning firearms. Charleston had a 3 day waiting period and one gun a month. The law now specifies what properties cities can ban firearms on.

Guam has a bill in its legislature that would make them Shall Issue. This bill came about due to the court ruling the 9th Circuit stating California’s may issue law denied people’s rights. It will be interesting to watch the process in Guam. For those who are not familiar with the American Possessions, they are US Citizens and are protected by the same Bill of Rights and Constitution as all other Americans.
There are other bills that have passed and I can’t list them all here. Updates will be made to www.handgunlaw.us when a new law takes effect or in the case of a new law I will add it with the Effective date. If it changes language in an existing law then I have to wait until the effective date to add it.
A warning to Missouri Residents. Nevada and Virginia do not honor the Missouri CCW. Both states dropped MO 9 months ago. Many RKBA’s Organizations and Apps for Carry are still showing these two states honor MO. They do not. Similar warning for Idaho Permit Holders. Pennsylvania does not honor any Idaho Permit/License. Pennsylvania dropped Idaho. Some RKBA’s Orgs and Apps for Carry are still listing PA as honoring ID. ID - http://www.isp.idaho.gov/BCI/index.html and then click on “License to Carry Concealed Weapon.”
