LE departments are spending millions of tax dollars on new firearms.
I say let them only aquire firearms from their "gun buy-backs".
If they are getting assault rifles, machine guns, high capacity handguns, etc. from these programs, then why not use them themselves?
"Oh, all these guns are unoperable." Then what's the point?
"Umm, gangs don't use these types of guns, we need more firepower." Then what's the point?
"These are guns that were used in crimes." Don't ask, ever proven/convictions? Then what's the point?
"These guns made for unsafe households." They shot an occupant by themselves? No? Then what's the point?
"They reduce street crimes." Do they? No? Then what's the point?
The way gun "buy-backs" oughtta work is for charities. Buy them with a feel good environmental/green coupon/gift card and then resell them to collectors/willing buyers and then the sponsor/charity keeps the profits. This way, operable/fixable firearms are put to use and useless ones are used/sold for scrap metal.
Those that don't want guns in their house feel better and gun owners get a good deal.
Plus, the LEO's get a good photo-op with even more useless guns "taken off the streets"!
OK, I know it makes sense to us. I'm just frustrated with people that don't think, just feel, and think they are doing something productive.
