Just got back from a trip to the range with my New Kimber Classic Custom. Have been leary about getting one. I own a Colt XS series and a Springfield Loaded they are great decided to try a Kimber the gun was great shot great But a couple of jams due to the mag they seem junky cheap?? I have a Wilson mag that fits it I will try that next time . but I do plan on calling kimber I paid enough for the gun and they ship cheap magazines!! any probs like this ???

Thanks

I love my Kimber but the Wilson mags do work better in it. I agree w/ you, for the price it should have a better mag. Besides that it is excellent. Sometimes I just enjoy looking at it.

Both of mine came with the Shooting Star by McCormick and I've had no problems with them. I did buy extra mags for both of mine. I have had the best luck with Wilson and, beleive it or not, the Mecgar. I have tried some cheapies and had problems of every sort.
If you find the magazine in your new Kimber was defective, take it back to the dealer and give them a chance to make it right.

My Kimber also jammed a lot at first, but after 200 rounds or so, and fine tuning my lubrication technique, it now functions everytime with the cheapest of mags.

Yeah, the standard Kimber magazines are pretty mediocre...they work OK, usually, but are nothing to write home about.

If you own a 1911, I would STRONGLY advise springing for some Wilson Combat magazines. They are the best by far. Of course, they cost more, but they really do help the feed reliability and are just plain cool looking & all around slick. Once I get 2 more 8-rounders I'm going to stick all my stock Kimber magazines in a closet & forget about them.

Wilson Combat mags are gooooood.
