Tom Selleck has completed a new entry into the Jesse Stone series of TV movies. This one is on the Hallmark Channel, not CBS. It's on Sunday at 9PM.

Tom Selleck is a Gunsite graduate and plays a small town sheriff who happens to carry a Gunsite Commander. The 1911 action is usually pretty realistic.

There has been almost no advertising for this, so I thought I'd pass the info along.

Thanks, the dvr is set. Interesting about the books. The guy who took over the series wrote some decent stories. The last one was pretty good. The baseball oriented one talked about baseball too much but was OK.

IMHO, the takeover Spenser books were crappy (as unfortunately were the books Parker wrote at the end of his run).

Gun content - Jesse is better. Spenser knew crap about guns.

It's worth mentioning that the gun handling in the Jesse Stone movies is very good. Selleck seems to have some say in the movies he's in, and it shows.

There are nine movies so far.

Stone Cold (February 20, 2005)
Jesse Stone: Night Passage (January 15, 2006) a prequel to Stone Cold
Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (April 30, 2006)
Jesse Stone: Sea Change (May 22, 2007)
Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (March 1, 2009)
Jesse Stone: No Remorse (May 9, 2010)
Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (May 22, 2011)
Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (May 20, 2012)
Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise (October 18, 2015)[3]

A pause for the COZ

Dang it!! I missed it now I will need to track it down.
I liked the other two I have seen.
How many are there??

It will be on again Sunday 25th at 9AM and again at 9PM.

Holy cow!!! I did not know there were that many. I am going to have to buy the set. Almost like getting a Christmas present of good movies.

Sort of like how I found longmire on NetFlix. I have 4 years of shows to watch. :-)

I am going to have to buy the set.

As mentioned earlier the episodes in the box set are not in story line order, but in the order in which they were released. So, watch the second movie Night Passage first then Stone Cold and then the rest in the order they were released.

Sorry....I tried to enjoy the Jesse Stone books and the t.v. show...the books are just his desperate attempt to write something other than Spencer.....and failed...and the t.v. movies are drab, and boring.....sooooooo freaking boring......

Well, they're not for everybody. The pace is languid and they rely on character and dialog for entertainment value. They don't supply a car chase, an explosion or a sex scene every 8 seconds so those who prefer constant stimulation won't like them. Personally, I find them fascinating and my only complaint is that they are over too quickly and there aren't enough of them.

Oh, and the use of guns is usually very realistic.

It was a pretty good movie. Jesse did wait a bit too long for the head shot at the end but it was for dramatic effect.

It was realistic in the sense that two COM shots didn't immediately stop the guy, even with a 1911.

Also, the young lady fighting to the end was nice as compared to other shows. I recall a Law and Order, SVU where Elliot was a hostage and totally unable to react in a similar situation.

Oh, that's got to be hogwash. It contradicts everything Gun Shop Joe Bob ever told me about knockdown power. Heresy, I say!

In one of the movies, Stone's right arm was injured. He was at the range practicing with his weak hand, and the deputy asked him why he didn't install an ambi safety. Stone responded that it could break under torque. I found that detail interesting.

Last nite they replayed the program from last week. But they cut out a couple of scenes, I guess for more advertising :( The movies are good a deserve a full airing.
