Got out my plastic mold 1911 so I could make a molded Yaqui Slide holster for one of my guns.

It was harder than I thought it would be even thought the holster looks simple. There is a lot more stitching and a lot of thought on where to start and finish. It's not one continuous line of stitching.

It was fun making the pattern and laying it out. I thought of making it out of shark skin but settled on two layers of leather instead. The shark skin would have been too thick.

I made it over two days so that the dye would dry.

The gun fits it perfectly. Easy to draw from and very secure. There is no way it will slip out even when holding the gun upside down and shaking the holster.

That's beautiful!

And I admire your skill and patience. I've made kydex holsters but your leather Yaqui Slide is well beyond my abilities.

Details please. Two layers of what thickness of leather? Were the two layers to have smooth inside as well as outside surfaces?
