New guy with question

To all who see these presents, greetings. I now have a Makarov,
a PA-63 and my favorite, an ancient Star Model B 9mm, which probably qualifies as the ugliest hand gun in the Pacific North Wet. (But I love it.) I'm planning on buying an FEG P9RZ model but am undecided as to stick with the tried-n-true 9mm or get all adventuresome and "modern" and go with the .40 cal. 40RZ. Anybody got experience with the piece and be willing to share some advice on the weapon and the "big decision." I've never had any experience with the.40 cal., nor do I know anyone who has, so any help would be mucho appreciated.

Hi Tom and welcome to TFL. I live next door in Washington State. I'm not familiar with Feg's but welcome anyway. Best, J. Parker

FEG really is a pretty good gun. Alot of people have differing opinions..but all I have shot. Pa 63, smc 380, smc 918, pmk 380
HP clone 9mm and HP clone 45 have been sound guns. The triggers are a little rough (alot rough on the 45) but didnt act up at all. The guns are very accurate. The sized down models you
are talking about are fairly new and I have no experience regarding them. I have seen them and handled them..but no
shooting involved. FEG makes a good gun...its not a SIG or HK.
But I wouldnt hesitate to own one...even for a carry weapon.
Shoot wll

I'd get the hipower clone rather than the double action model.

The reviews of the DA models have not been as glowing, but they work. If I recall correctly the P9R uses a SW compatible magazine.

The PJK9HP uses a Browning Hi Power magazine.. those have been in production since 1935.. not hard at all to find 'hi caps"

I decided to get the p9rz in 9mm,but alas my FFL is out of town so i can't pick it up and shoot it.I went with the 9mm mostly because of ammo costs and the fact that i already have a great compact .40 S&W.I can't wait to get it as i love my FEG Fp-9.

Many thanks for all the feedback. I'm waiting to hear how the new P9rz behaved at the range. The FEG P9RZ isn't my "preferred choice," but when you are on the dreaded "fixed income." and when She Who Must Be Obeyed keeps a critical eye on the check book and gun safe, one learns to "compromise." (Saying "Yes Dear" with a smile as if you really mean it.)

I got to shoot one today

I just got back from shooting wwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy to much!
Is it me or is it to easy to get asbolutely carried away at the range....I come out...what? 2 hours...OK!

Anyway..I rented a p9rz just for the hell of it...5$ for an hour and I had plenty.....HAD being the key word! of ammo. It is accurate up to 25-30 ft (thats as far as I shot it) and functioned well..no failures of any kind. Its a d/a gun and the trigger is actually not bad..the best out of any FEG gun I have ever shot in d/a. Its got a long pull and felt around 10 pounds (+- 8 pounds, my hands were tired) Its pretty light and fairly narrow.
It would make a good carry gun. I ran about 100 rnds thru it
and no problems. Just thought you would like to hear...shoot well
