New guy with a Question

Hello to all, this is my first post on here and I had a question for anyone that might have a answer. My local gun shop has a smith and wesson 1000 series 1012 model with max 4 camo. they are asking $549 it new as well, is this a good deal. thanks again

Its not a gun I really watch prices on / but the quick check I did on the internet showed it selling for around $ 625 / so it sounds like a heck of a deal.
 
If you read between BigJimP's lines, he may be saying that S&W shotguns are not too popular. That could be why he hasn't noticed any at his area gun shops. If it helps, the Model 1012- MAX-4 (sku: 822306) has a MSRP of $735 and the Model 1012 Super- MAX-4 (sku: 822604) has a MSRP of $882. I'm well pleased with the various S&W pistols and revolvers I own. But, I think I'd look for something more popular in a shotgun unless there was a feature I wanted that was only available from S&W.
 
I think that if you check, these guns are of Turkish manufacture for what its worth.If this gun is new, Smith and Wesson was offering a Heirloom Warranty where you could pick an Heir to also put on the warranty. If this is a used gun then I would be wondering why it was sold. I could be wrong on country of origin but I believe thats what I have read. You might want to do a little checking on quality before buying.
 
Zippy and Oldrum are right / I don't see any of them around .....

I would recommend any number of other used or new guns before I would personally recommend it.
