Hi guys , I just found this site ...wow it's great . I have a few questions , I like auto's ... but love revolvers .
I am just getting back into guns ... I still have my nice collection , I carry a 380. beretta , it's good gun , but I would rather go with a compact revolver .
I was looking at Taurus ...I'm not sure about there quallity , I was looking at the 617 357mag Titanium or they have a 9mm revolver ...thats cool .

I was also looking at S&W small frame model 60 , I wanted to stay compact and anyone recomend a few more options .

Off that topic dose any one know what I should ask for a brand new 7yrs ago a never shot colt anaconda 44 mag ...I bought this gun when I was just getting out of hunting and never used it .

Whats a new one going for.

Thanks for all your help

welcome to the list Greg,

You'll learn a lot here... much stuff that you need to know and some stuff you don't. As for your revolver question... I'd look at Ruger or S&W before tarus... but that's just me. Can't help you on the 44 question.

I carry a Sig 230 and Walther ppk in 380... really like both.

revolvers for CCW

I have only steel frame snubs and they are nice and easy to shoot, but I might consider a standard lightweight, alloy frame, for all day carry, as these little steel snubs are alot heavier in the pocket than the hand. I would only carefully consider one of the ultra lightweights that they make now, due to the recoil factor. Titanium and scandium are cool, but some folks talk about experiencing hand pain from the sharp recoil. The older lightweights might be a good comprimise. Maybe all steel if you plan to shoot alot. And a no snag hammer or hammerless design for constant carry.

Re: compact

That beretta I'm luging around has a little weight to it .. But it's in a nylon holster and feels pretty good .
I was leaning toward the S&W model 60 , it comes in 2 models , a 2 1/8 barrel and a 3" barrel ... the 3" barrel has rear adj site's and only weighs 1.5 oz more than the other one .

Greguw,

what is the barrel length on the Anaconda? I'm not the expert, but it may make a difference for those who are. Welcome to the forum! :)

Ruger SP101

I would recommend the Ruger SP101. IMO, the perfect compromise between concealability and shootability.

And they look really good, too:D

I was at the range today with my little Model 60, stainless,
2 1/8" barrel. Grouped around 5" at 25 yards, standing,
single action. I couldn't hit Earth double action and it's not the gun's fault.
Also the wind was 10 to 15 MPH.
I love this little gun.

I carry a Taurus 605, a 5 shot .357. I have had no problem with it at all, it's all steel, but light enough to carry IWB with no problem at all. I had the hammer bobbed to reduce snagging, but for the money, I think they are well worth it. Taurus gets a bad rap in a lot of these threads, but personally, I have had no problems at all, it's light, shoots well, groups tight, and has never failed to function.....what more could you ask for?

I carry a Taurus Model 85 with Winchester .38spl +P 158gr HP Semi-wadcutters. The Taurus is fine for CCW, I shoot 5 - 10 rounds a month though it. I would not recommend it if you plan on shooting it more than that.

I do not feel it can handle a lot of firing, if you plan shooting it a lot than a Ruger or Smith would be a better choice. Its an affordable and reliable gun but its just not built to be a high volume shooter.

Just MHO :)
