new grips at fault for my bad day at the range?

I just bought some walnut grips with finger grooves from CDNN investments for my Security Six and took them to the range today. I had previously used the factory wood grips.
My performance today with the new grips and .357s was not good. I shot a little low and to the left at times and at other times I was sending them sort of where I was aiming.

Should I have started out with .38s just to get a feeling for the new grips or might the new grips just not be right for me? They do sort of fill my hand up in a just short of uncomfortable kind of way.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

Or should I just experiment back and forth between grips?

Or should this go in the Gear and Accessories forum?

Thanks

I just got the hogue rubber ones for my security six. Hopefully I'll get to try them out tommorrow. They felt great dry firing but have some "give" in a spot. I'm anxious to see how secure they are. I just got my hunting rounds so I'm sure I'll appreciate the rubber.
