Howdy,
Just picked up a 4" PC 625 with the laminated Miculek grips this week. I've only put 100 rounds through it but I'm not sure these grips are for me. I have average to slightly larger than average hands and the grips feel narrow to me. Not front to back, but side to side. I will be using this gun for IDPA and similar matches so I'm not concerned about maximum conceal ability but do want a grip that easy to hold on to and still facilitates easy reloading.
I have a 686 with the rubber mono-grip and like that fine though it is still a little narrow in an L-frame. I'm right-handed and like to be able to get my weak-hand palm pressed into the grip. I can do it with the 686 but can't do it easily with the 625.
While I may sound all-practical here, I also wouldn't mind finding a functional grip that dresses up the gun also. I've looked at some of the Hogue wood grips and think they look great but are they any more hand filling than the L-frame rubber grips? The finish on the Muculek grip is slippery if your hands are greasy or wet. Are the waxed, wood Hogues less slippery?
I would appreciate any experiences you can share before I start building a grip collection.
Thanks!
Joe
