New GP 100 today----

Traded a nice but seldom used rifle for a new 6 inch stainless Gp today--came with the comfortable but somewhat ugly black rubber grips--I'll be ordering some woods for it, but thought I'd see if I can talk some of you GP owners into posting some photos of yours with wood grips to give me an idea of what is availiable---my two previous GP's had the factory wood panel style grips but I know there are some out there that are far better looking along with being more comfortable---please, give me some eye candy---John

IMNSHO, the best grips ever put on a GP100 were the small Letts that were put on the fixed sight GP's...They fit any GP100...

This is mine with some spalted maple inserts I made...

I had a 4" GP100 about 6 years ago and regret selling it to my aunt. Tried to buy it back but she loves it. Congrats on the purchase. They are fine revolvers.

Another vote for the Lett's Compact grips, especially with Lett's inserts as they have proven much more stable than some of the aftermarket insert guys I wasted money on. Poor fit, wrong palm swells, cheap ferrules/screws, and poorly cured wood which cracked plagued the inserts I got from those guys. Altamont inserts are good but not the home shop dudes in my experience.

The round butt grips with the Lett inserts are excellent grips. While I dont own a GP, I've spent a lot of time shooting my friend's and love those grips.

I have the factory grips on my blued GP, but with the grey inserts--they are comfortable and seem to provide a solid grip and I do like how they look---being as how a set of decent grips that would do the gun justice would set me back at least $60 if not more, maybe I'll just get a set of the factory grips---what do you mean when you say "Letts"? Are they just Rugers grips with the inserts or are they coming from another source ? --------- John

I got the rubber grip and grip locater from Midway USA for $12 and paid $20 for the inserts from another source.
Just go to their website and type in GP100 grips in the search function.

Original lett grips, much better!! Also, rugersp101, maybie you just havent found the right home shop guy , ;)

Lett's actually produced the inserts and the rubber molds. The mold's for the Santoprene rubber have officially been sold off to a reproduction company who is currently supplying MidwayUSA and Brownells.

Some out there think (and swear) they are just using piles of left over Santoprene rubber that will run out - but they are wrong, hence the reason Midwayusa and Brownell's will run out of stock then get more a few weeks later after being restocked by the current reproduction contractor.

1chig - I will try yours soon! They look great. I had bad luck with another guy (not 41magnum) on Ebay who was sloppy and overpriced.

Panels for sale on ebay or chigsgrips.com. $ back guarantee, if you dont like'em send'em back and i will give your $$ back. I dont want anyone to be unhappy with them.
