You can get to where you want, it takes cutting the FSB one way or the other.
If the sling and sight are attached to the same structure, you no longer have a free float.
Sling mounted to FSB swivel, sights and barrel move.
Sling mounted to free float, sights and barrel don't move.
Sling mounted to free float with BUIS on rail, sights move, barrel doesn't.
Think about it, at least with the FSB set up issue, if you move the barrel, at least the sights do to. Sights on the end of the barrel hold on closer than on a AR15 with carbine gas.
Nobody talks about it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Most are 2MOA guns, you don't see it unless you go looking for it.
Magpul does not warranty their MBUS on an gas block. Metal front BUIS are recommended there. $100 + later, all you get is the front sight not shadowed in the lower third of an optic.
Leave it, and you have a cowitnessed sight just in case the red dot goes out. Point being, it's cheaper in the long run to buy what you really wanted rather than get by and change it. The FSB removed is a $20 used part which barely dents recovering the expense.
