In the mail today, I received a new recoil spring for my G27, along with a letter to the effect of "you have been identified as the owner of a model 26 or 27 in the affected serial number range, blah, blah, failure to replace the spring may result in a jam (whatever that means), etc., etc. There was a stamped, addressed, bubble-wrap envelope to send back the old spring.

1. Anyone else get this?
2. Anyone know what the problem was?
3. How did Glock know the exact serial number of my gun (part of the address block), much less even know I own one or more of their guns?

I would say that if you ORDERED the spring, then they would know that you owned a G-27. But it sounds like you never ordered it. If Ruger sent me a new spring, I'd be slightly miffed because I never sent in the Warr/card or called with any sort of questions.

It was nice of them to think of your safety, but how did they get the info? I haven't a CLUE. Call and ASK is my best suggestion.

I bought one of the G27s with the problem. At just over a hundred rounds fired the retaining lip on the spring collar failed, rendering the Glock inoperable. There were numerous posts on the Glocktalk forums on this. I bought the Wolff recoil rod and went to a 20lb spring, no troubles since.

#1-We got a whole bag of 'em at the PD the other day in the mail.

#2-Zensho explained the problem.

#3-I have no clue whatsoever how they knew you had one. Our duty back-up's were bought directly from Glock so that's how they knew we had 'em. :)

BTW, I got a G33 fr my back-up and as far as I know the problem doesn't exist in that model. It's just a certain batch of G27's evidently.

Didn't you fill out a warranty card when you bought your Glock?
