Well, range trip 2 with the new Glock, and I'm cautiously optimistic. Several of you responded to my original post (see link below), once again demonstrating the generosity of the good folks at TFL; and that I'm not too old to learn something new.
As per suggestions I received, I thoroughly cleaned the pistol, purchased 100 rounds of Winchester 115 gr ammunition, loaded the same mag that I used the first time, and ... not a glitch. Sixty rounds through this magazine, and 40 in the second mag that came with the Glock, and every round cycled and fired perfectly. I also watched my grip, and though I'm not aware that I did anything differently from the first time, the recoil is a bit different from my SIG 229 so I may not have been as firm with my grip. Too many changed variables to count as genuine research, but a much better experience than last time. I could get used to this gun.
