New Frontier en route......

I scored one on Gun Broker today! My bid was the winning bid for a 7 1/2" Colt New Frontier in .45 Colt. This after losing two at the last minute when the bids exceeded my maximum, and one locally that started out at twice my starting price!

Expect thish gun to be in early next week.

Not nearly as collectable as they ought to be

They are pretty much the perfect single action revolver. Ruger's will have more horsepower, but it comes at a price. NF's are a perfect blend of power, accuracy and balance.
Congrats on the find.

New? Old? Old, but like new?
I prefer the short-barreled guns with fixed sights, but have always liked the New Frontier in 7.5".

Well, Rick, I don't quite know how to answer that. Its not brand new but its not old either, at least not as far as Colts go. Maybe 1980 vintage, or so.

And, I was wanting a 5 1/2" barrel, but this came along at a bargain, so enough money was left in the Treasurey for cutting the barrel back to 5 1/2". Already spoken to my gunsmith about this. And maybe, with some of that surplus, plus a little more savings, stag grips. We'll see.

P.S. As to fixed sights, I don't mind them, but do want decent flat top rear sight blade. If I just had to live with fixed sights, I'd prefer them like this Uberti:

My only complaint

Never seen a NF with anything but the most mundane stocks. Hope you have plans for that too.
