Any one have experience with a New England Firearms M# R92 .22 L.R. 9-shot revolver. I'm looking for an inexpensive .22 lr revolver to use to teach my brother how to shoot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

How dare you even suggest a SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL ?

...just joking.

For firearms safety it would be OK...but for much advanced from that basic...you really need something else.

If he expects to hit much, you could turn him off rather than on.

Those are good for RatShot around the barn but not much more as far as I am concerned.

Don't waste your money...I think that's why NEF doesn't offer pistols anymore. The ONE they have they call a "Dog Training Revolver" just because you don't want your dogs to shy at the report of a weapon being fired.

I'm not being snobbish...just telling like it is.

Not sure which model you're referring to. I had a NEF .22lr revolver several years ago. Fixed sights, 2 1/2" barrell. The gun shot way off. Even when I manually aimed to correct, I could barely hit a pie plate at 10 yds. If your model has adjustable sights (windage & elevation) you're probably ok.
Another item I noticed is that the action felt good, until I compared it to a S & W. From my experience, I would not recommend them.
(my Italian replica Colt Navy cap-n-ball revolver is more accurate than my NEF .22lr was!) (and cheaper!) (and had a better action!)

I've had a H&R (same company) 929 9 shot .22LR for close to 25 years now. It comes out of hiding a few times a year just to make sure it's still in operating condition. I get groupings comparable to what I get with my Ruger Single-six. The only ammo I've ever had trouble with was Aquilla. The cases would expand to the point where I had to unload it like a SA, one at a time.
