Hi everyone,

In a quest to find something fun at 50 yards, I was looking at the NEF Handi Rifle in 357 magnum. I was going to go with a contender in 357, but the price of this NEF is MUCH less!!

Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? Im looking for a 50 yard plinker, and the majority of my collection is 38/357, so I will always have a supply of ammo readily available!

Thanks!
-George

I own an H&R Handi Rifle in .357 Magnum,,,

I am not certain but I think H&R and NEF are the same guns,,,
At least that's what I have been told in this forum.

My gun will hold 2" groups at 100 yards all day long,,,
It's minute of armadillo out to and past 150 yards.

There's something alluring about break-open rifles,,,
I love sending the spent cartridge back over my shoulder,,,
I've taught many a range lookey-loo not to hover when I'm shooting. :D

All I can truly say is,,,
I like mine a lot.

Thanks for the response. I would love to be able to hold an inch at 50 yards. In fact, that is all that I am looking for! Glad to hear that you like yours. For 200 bucks, I think im going to go for it!!

Anyone other opinions out there??

I think it would be a lot of fun plinking w/.38's. Be a good varmint rifle w/357's within 100-150 yds. Friend of mine has one in 22-250 He called a head shot on a snow goose at 275 yds. last year. We were all laughing at him until he shot. Wasn't a fluke, I put it on paper at 200 later and it held 2" w/10 shots. I know that is not typical, hell it's not typical for any rifle, but it shows they are capable of good accuracy. Espesially if ware talking shooting beer cans at 50yds.

When I was a kid, my second gun was a NEF .410. I've had a few more NEF singles and they're pretty decent plinkers for the money. You really can't go wrong for $200.

They're a hoot in 45/70.
The factory will sell you any additional barrel that they carry, provided you pay to ship it there to be fitted.
It's the poor man's T/C Encore.
