New ejection problem

Empty case is getting trapped reverse lengthways when the slide comes forward. That is the case is getting stuck between the slide and the barrel with the base of the case on the hood of the barrel and the case mouth is against the breechface of the slide. This seems like a rather interesting mechanical ballet for this very thing to have happened a multitude of times but it has. Gun is a 220.

First, is there a more descriptive name for this particular type of jam other than Fail to Eject?

Second, any guesses as to the problem and/or the solution?

My last dealing with SIG service was less than pleasant and would like to avoid them.

The first person that says limp wristing gets mean thoughts directed at them.

Three things immediately come to mind. 1) Either the ammo has insufficient energy to push the slide all the way to the rear or the recoil spring is too heavy. 2) The extractor has insufficient tension and is letting the case fall back onto the top of the magazine rather than forcing it onto the ejector. 3) A broken ejector.

I think Stans is on the right track.

Only 220 I have experience with eats anything, including full wadcutters. But could be really limp ammo.

The case obviously isn't being ejected with enough force. I believe SIG's use an ejector that is integral with the slide stop, am I correct? If so, make sure your thumb isn't riding the slide stop. Assuming I'm totally wrong on that, look for the other culprits such as a loose standard ejector or stiff extractor, tight chamber, or bad ammo.

Try other ammo. New ones to be sure, skip reloads. If it still happens, my guess is that the ejector is somehow mis-aligned and doesn't give the brass sufficient "kick" to eject it properly. Send to manufacturer for adjustments.

Could you simulate the ejection process using a snap cap or an empty brass? It may give you some clues as to why the FTE recurs...

The gun is completely stock (down to the springs). Happens with factory ammo too (UMC, S&B, Win White Box). I mentioned the reloads because I know it is not "limp ammo" and that is what I shoot the most of.

Seems to me like you're gonna have to "face the music" once more, coz I smell a "Lemon". You just have to take it back...:(
