New Convert to the Holy Makarov

My girlfriend has developed much more interest in shooting since early September, just as many others have. She had shot before but had no emotional response in any way.

On the 12th she asked about a rifle she could learn to shoot and of the ones she's shot she developed a love for the SAR (AK 74) with the little Russian 5.45 x 39 round.

She tried several pistols but decided that she liked the Keltec .32 the best because it was so cute. She has been shooting several times with me in the last few weeks and was starting to really like accuracy! On Friday we went shooting and she decided that she liked my Makarov the best of all the pistols she shot. No mention of cute this time.

Sunday we went to a gun show together, her first, and we stopped by one of my friend's booths there where he had a EG Makarov for sale for $225. She took a look at it and liked the serial number of the Makarov and bought it on the spot. My friend even gave her another break on the price. I told her it paid to wear that knit top and those special jeans of hers! So now she is the proud owner of a Makarov and she only paid $190. Ohhhh by the way, it is the most accurate of all the EG Makarovs in the house, for both of us!

I AM a lucky man!

Bless her!

Interesting...

My girlfriend LOVES the Bulgarian SLR100 and the 7.62 x 39 round... Didn't really like pistols until she tried the Mak... now she has a Bulgarian Mak to match the AK... Hmmmm...

Congrats!

Rev. Makarov,
Good to hear from you. This is indeed a joyous blessed event!! Welcome her to the Makarov Collective for me. Most accurate Makarov, huh. My guess that it is a Stazi issue. They were better put together than the run of the mill standard EG Maks!!! I have an EG Makarov that is the same way. The markings are different than my other EG Maks. I would have to dig it out of the safe to describe them. Anyway, welcome her to the Collective in the proper fashion. ;)

Maks are great guns. You get an all-steel, rock-solid, stone axe reliable handgun with a 50-year battle record...for under $200 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick.

Amen Brother!

I wish I had a knit top and some special jeans. Oh well I don't think I could pull it off anyway, they would have either increased the price or charged my for severe emotional damage. Maybe I can borrow your girlfriend for my future gun purchases? Ha Ha.

Even though the dealer is one of my very best friends he did NOT offer to sell me the gun for less. :D And if I'd have worn a tight knit top and tight jeans he'd have probably drawn on me!

Congrats on the purchase! You can NEVER go wrong with a 'good ole mak!' Now your girlfriend just needs about 10 mags, a Wolff 19# spring, Pierce grips, and about all of the other thousands of accessories available for this bad a*s little gun!

If memory serves me, the standard factory Makarov spring is 17#. The Wolf extra power spring (which is 19#) improves reliability and reduces felt recoil. Or so they say.
