New Concealed Carry Setup

I am working with a new carry setup. I normally wear my IWB at about the 4 o’clock position due to concealment issues as well as being able to reach behind with my weak hand and draw should my strong hand become injured for any reason.

I normally carry my extra mags on my left side, which I will probably continue to do. I have been playing with keeping a single mag at the 3 0’clock position in front of my gun in the event that I would need to reholster and reload one handed. I find that if I place the mag further back on my belt, say around 5 0’clock, it messes me up when trying to draw my gun. Another thing is that if I am doing a tactical reload (one handed); taking the mag out of the gun is a bit tricky with the extra mag at 5 0’clock. And, if I happen to fall to the ground I don’t like anything on my back. At the 4 0’clock position the gun isn’t really on my back but in a more padded area than carrying further back at 5 or 6 0’clock.

I am still getting used to feeling the extra mag at the 3 0’clock position when reaching for my gun, but it hasn’t really posed any real problems when trying to draw my gun. The one thing that I did like about having the extra mag at 5 0’clock is that I can just take the mag out of the holder and slide it right into the gun when doing a speed reload.

Has anyone ever tried this setup? If so what are your thoughts on it?

I'd suggest replacing your current mag holder with one you can cant forward so that you can "crossdraw" a mag if necessary.

I am not clear on the advantage of having the mag on your strong side. I reload with my weak hand holding the fresh mag and stowing the old one...but that's just me.
