The Officers Model is an excellent compact .45 pistol.
There appears to be a potential long-term reliability problem with the stamping that Colt designed for the recoil spring cap. I've read several magazine articles by shooters who experienced failure of that stamping after some thousands of firings. The failure appears to be caused by crystalization of the cap, which results in launching the recoil spring down-range.
My Para P12 was designed with that same stamping (the P12 is basically a 12-round copy of the Officers Model). I took my P12 to a local gunsmith for installation of an Ed Brown kit to repace the guide rod/recoil spring/spring cap.
