New Colt Govt model?

I've read some posts mentioning the new Colt 1911 (the one that doesn't have "1991A1" on it).

Just checked out Colt's website and saw it. I've been looking for a 1911 for a while and might be interested in it. Dealers I've very recently visited didn't mention anything about these.

Does anyone have one of these or seen one? Does anyone know what the cost for one might be? Is one easily ordered by a dealer, or will it take a long time to get? How might the quality compare to Kimber, Springfield, or the Colt 1991A1?

I think he's referring to the new rollmarks on the '91A1, not the M1911A1 reproduction. The new '91's have the sides of the slide polished, with "Colts Government Model" and rampant colt rollmarked on the left side. I think the right side still says "Series 80". I have not handled the one that I saw, but it appears to be like any othe '91, but with the new finish/markings.

I've seen them for sale recently. They are simply the old M1991A1 but with surface-ground slide flats (about 220 grit polish) and the new rollmarking that says:

---------COLT'S---------
GOVERNMENT MODEL
.45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER

...with the rampant Colt logo to the side of it. Certainly looks better than the old plain-jane M1991A1 marking!

We're talking two different animals, here. Colt is making both the M1911A1 reproduction, the specs of which are list above, and the M1991A1 with new rollmarks identfying it as "Colts Government Model". The former is a limited-edition, Custom Shop gun, priced in the $900-$1000 range, while the latter is a regular-production item that runs $600-$700.
