New Colt Gold Cup--is it worth the money?

I've been wanting a Colt Gold Cup for years, but never got one. Today I saw a brand-new one with blued finish at the local gunshop. To me, it's a darned good-looking pistol, plus the trigger feels great. The problem is the price: $879, which with tax is about $950. That's a lot of bucks.

I figure this may be a subjective question--everyone may place a different value on the gun. Besides, bank accounts come in all sizes. But I'd still welcome opinions as to whether a new Gold Cup is worth the money.

TIA.

Greeting's All,

Over the years, I've owned two 70's model Colt
Gold Cup National Match weapons that were very
fine, high quality firearms.:D If memory serves
me correctly, I don't think I paid over $400.00
for either one of them!:) Now, to your question
of "Is it worth it"? The newer versions, I'd say
no way Jose!!!:( As for the older ones in LNIB
condition, I simply say YES.

Wow--thanks for the info. I had no idea the price was so far out of line. I'll pass on this one and look elsewhere.

The Blue Book value on a blued Series 80 Gold Cup National Match is $900 for 100% condition. Add 10% for NIB condition for a grand total of $990. Last Manufacturers suggested retail was $937.00. They were manufactured from 1983 to 1996

The Stainless model was manufactured 1983-1996. Last Manufacturers suggested retail was $1003.00.
100% condition is $900.00. Add 10% for NIB for a total of $990.00. Add another $70 for Ultimate Bright Stainless finish.

I would say go for it.
