Just shot my new 1991 tonight! 150 rounds of S&B 230g FMJ. No malfunctions and a joy to shoot. This is my first centerfire handgun and I love it. Shot at steel plates and knocked 'em down. It was really fun. I would recomend this to any first time handgun/1911 buyer as a great starter/base gun. You get a beautiful gun that performs flawlessly.

Congrats on the new pistol.

Would that every new colt performed like yours.... alas, their QC just isn't that good... yet? ;)

Congrats too boiler for the flawless shooting you had. What model of your M1991A1. Mine is Model: O1091 but I made several modifications to it already. Three days ago also, I had tested the new Wolff Spring Recoil guide 18.5 lbs and also a FLGR and found the darn 01091 shoots well without any malfunction whatsoever. I can't see QC problem with my colts. Everytime I go to the range, all bullets fed will go bang.

I love my Colt 1991A!

I think the 1991A1 is a great gun, mine has never jammed even once and hits the target every time! I bought my 1991A1 becouse I wanted an original (1911A1) looking gun and I hate the ugly serrations on the front of the other brands. I also bought my 1991A1 with an adjustable trigger, a stainless steel barrel and paid about $100.oo less then a comparable Kimber or Springfield.
Have you noticed that the only people that say the 1991A1's are lacking in quality control do not own one and also do not know that Colt's has been under new management for a few years now.
Good Shooting!

You're right KEN with your personal analysis.
Just this recently only several people talked about the M1991A1 flawlessness and reliability. I had that experienced with my M1991A1 that since I bought it 4 yrs ago, I did not have any malfunction to it, or Failure to fire. I believed that the M1991A1 is a real improvements of the M1911 and M1911A1's, meaning that what Colt had found flaws on the two predecessors were corrected/perfected in these M1991A1 model.

As what Colt said, the M1991A1 is a direct descendent of their original 1911.

;)
