New Coat for an Old Pistol

I have Colt Trooper MK III that's looking a bit worn after all these years. I'm thinking about getting a new finish put on it, in either matte black or chrome.

Can anyone suggest the best type of each coating, and the best place to get it done?

Many thanks!

Frenchy, thanks for the link. I had forgotten to bookmark it. clips: I think that your revolver deserves a hard-chrome finish, vs. the polymer/moly baked on coating. IMHO, that's better reserved for pistols, which have less nooks/crannies/curves than a revolver. :)

i have had rocky mtn arm in longmont co. do a few of my guns in their "bearcaot" dupont teflon finish (matte black) extremely happy with the finish ans definetely can feel a difference on overall smoother function if the guns, as well as anyone who fired them also commented on the "feel". and a big plus to RMA for their outstanding customer service as well as their turn around time. <A HREF="http://www.bearcoat.com" TARGET=_blank>www.bearcoat.com

I forgot the REAL RoBar link, but the one you gave is a different kind of coating... unless you like make-up on your gun ;)

I agree with WeShoot. Have not used Robbie Barkman (sp?), but every hardchrome gun I have came from Accurate Plating. I don't think you can do any better. Call Bob Cogan and have him tell you about the Colt Trooper they customized and hardchromed a few years ago.

The right address for Robar is www.robarguns.com There MP3(Chrome like) and Robar (Black finish) are very durable are are of the highest quality IMHO.

Even though I have trouble with their web address, I have no trouble with my 1911 they NP3'ed for me.
