New Carry Gun G19 or HS2000?

I need help deciding. I am looking at the Glock 19 or the HS2000. I have a couple of gun now, but they are either small or huge, nothing really inbetween. I am looking for a lightweight, mid size semi-auto for comfortable daily carry.

I will go on record as saying I am not really a Glock fan. I dislike the idea of such a light trigger on a DAO gun with no manual safety. However, this gun will be a carry only gun, got a Beretta 92FS with plenty of hi-caps for the house. So I can get over the light trigger pull by keeping the chamber empty when the gun is not on my person.

I do like the idea of the grip safety on the HS2000. They appear to be a good bargain for the price. My only concern is the short ammount of time they have been on the market. Are the reliable for several thousand rounds and well the company still be around in 2 years if something needs fixing? I know the second part of the question really can't be answered.

Also, how is the HS2000 as far as accuracy is concerned? Are they reliable and accurate out of the box? Also, has the FTE problems been taken care of in the later Gen3 models of these?

I appreciate all help.

I have a G19 and carry it all the time. I have no problem with the "light" trigger. You could always get glock parts to put in a NY trigger which will make it 8 or 12 lbs. but it is nice and solid at 5lbs. I like the KISS principle on it, nothing to do but pull it and pull the trigger it takes care of safety for you....

look for the new STI LS9 or LS40 I havent fired one but it seems to be in the size range although not DA

The HS2000 is a good gun. Mine has been 100%, so far. The real question is, will the company be around in the future. HS Arms keeps saying they're really being accepted enthusiastically by the law enforcement community. I haven't heard any proof of that. But, then again, who am I? I know that I put mine on consignment a few weeks ago, and very few people, if any, knew what it was. The Glock 19, however, has a solid track record. In fact, I'm thinking of getting one, again. Of course, the Glocks aren't for everyone.

The HS2k my roomie had was reliable and accurate. The grip is very ergonomic; reminiscent of the Browning HP/CZ 75. The grip safety and loaded chamber indicator seem like afterthoughts. All in all it was one of the more screaming deals in the gun marketplace. Naturally, Springfield scooped it up and dubbed it the "XD" (for eXtreme Duty, dude!) and have, I'm sure, upped the price. Does the HS work as well as a G19? Pretty much, yes. Will it last as long as a G19? That remains to be seen, I know some old G19's... ;)

Just to throw something additional into the mix - I recently acquired a Steyr M9 and have been very pleased thus far. No reliability issues up to this point, natural pointer, very accurate. It also appears that Steyr's new owners are going to continue production and service through GSI for the M and S series pistols, so the future looks OK.

It also adds a manual safety along with the trigger safety and firing pin block. Quite honestly it fit my hand better than the Glock (which is admittedly a really fine handgun).

First of all, I would never recommend the Steyr M9 as a carry gun. With only 10rnds. of 9mm, would you feel safe. I know you probably won't even use that, but still... Also, all signs point to yes, that the HS2000 is a good gun. But, it still doesn't have the testing behind it that a Glock, or even a Steyr does. I wouldn't bet my life on something so new, and as of yet, not thoroughly tested, but that's me.

Personally I would go with a proven track record of durability, reliability, and length of service for a carry gun. The G19 passes all the above. In a few years maybe the HS2000 will be THE choice. It has caused quite a stir amoung shooters with it's features and similarities to other designs at a bargain price. It's still fairly new on the market so I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon just yet...

I had enjoyed my glock for a long time and found nothing to compare UNTIL the hs 2000. I have put 800 reloads through it and find (for me) it out Glocks my Glock. It is 100 % reliable and accurate. Hi caps can be modified from existing mags too. A fine gun.

No, the 10 round capactiy does not bother me at all. In fact, 8 rounds of .380 in my PPKS doesn't bother me either. I can shoot the gun accurately. With Hydrashocks loaded, I feel pretty darn comfortable...

Now, to the HS2000. I think this is the one I want to go with first. I will probably end up with a Glock later down the road. I just like the added aspect of the grip safety for the HS2K.

Does anyone know of any that has these in stock right now? I am having a hard time finding one and don't really want to wait for a Springfield XD. (of course, I will probably get one of those eventuall as well) I have seen a few Gen1s around, but I would prefer the Gen2 or Gen3 with the tactical rails. If anyone has one for sale, or knows of anyone who does, please get with me.

Here's a vote for the Glock 19, I have one and it holds 16 rounds of 9mm in a rust proof reliable handgun available with night sights at a reasonable cost.

Hope you're not saying you've converted a 10 round magazine into a higher capacity one, quite illegal.

Pre-ban Hi-caps such as the Beretta, Taurus and Smith 5906, fit the HS2000 with minor modification to the mag release hole. After the mod., they still work in the original pistols. All quite legal! ;)

I think they're both nice pistols, but you should get the one that fits your hand the best and proves to be reliable.
