I recently purchased a new box of Remington Golden Saber 185gr JHP +P .45acp for my S&W Military and Police Compact.
I got the box for around $26.00 USD from www.route66sportinggoods.net .
I was seriously disappointed by the poor quality & lack of QC in the .45acp, :( .
The brass section of the JHP has chips & rust colored spots on the bullets.

It seemed a lot worse then the Golden Sabers I packed in .40S&W in the 1990s.

I use Hornady Critical Duty .45acp mostly but I'm on a business trip in PA.

Remington needs to step it up.

I just got a box of the 230 grain from cabelas i didnt see anything wrong with them with a quick inspection but this makes me want to look over them again to make sure..i also use the critical duty in my 9 and my wifes 380 i like it alot and it is my go to round but i couldnt pass up the deal i got on the sabers only 17 dollars or somewhere in that ballpark

I don't buy factory ammo, as I load my own. But, I'm wondering if the ammo that you got had been exposed to moisture or condensation...or, it may have just been old stock that the retailer had acquired from another business, or that had been sitting around for quite some time.

Are you sure that was actually factory ammo?
There's a lot of reloads being sold these days, due to the shortages and high prices.

not a fan of golden sabers myself. i prefer the ranger t series

Haha, same here. 127gr +p+

After my incident with golden sabers, I really just shot them all off at the range. I may have a mag filled with them somewhere that I'll search and destroy later.

Golden Saber is why I don't rechamber carry ammo anymore.

After just TWO chamberings I'd see bullet setback in 45 ACP defensive ammo. Haven't seen this with any other brand, but still made me very skittish.

That's exactly my issue. You look at them the wrong way and they decide to retract into their shell like a frightened turtle.

I detail strip and clean my Glock once a month.

Speed Gold Dot's are tied with my Ranger T's.

I bought a couple boxes of the 230 grain 2 years ago. Opened them up a few hours after I left the store and the bullets were setback into the case a full quarter inch. Luckily the shop owner took them back and I got a diff. brand. Havent bought golden sabers since..
