Looking for a new all purpose rifle..... Mid weight/length barrel...Synthetic stock....thinking 243 caliber.....I will probably go with a remington action, but also looking at Cooper....I have owned Rem 700, Winchester 70's, Savage, Ruger 77 in the past .....Give me your input on my project....

Rem CDLs in nice walnut and polished blue are only 900 and they are amazing got my dad one for christmas in 243 win. He is going to mount some crazy night vision scope with built in range finder for a few grand from cabelas. Should be a great yote and deer control rig. We fired off a few rounds and its so sweet I want one now. :D

If you dont reload a tikka would be my first choice. However it would be in 7-08, 308, or in 30-06.

Don't get a Cooper unless its a walnut stock..

Now why would you say that... Check with Cooper... They are adding new "stuff" everyday with guaranteed accuracy!

Steer clear of Remington products - their quality has dropped the last few years. You my also want to look at the Weatherby Vanguard Series 2.

The New Winchester Model 70s are supposed to be awesome, you can get a synthetic stocked .243. They are supposed to be very good rifles.

I think the marlins have dropped off more than the REM. I have new REM guns two rifles and 1 shotgun. All have performed as well as my fathers older REMS.
