"New" Bisley

Stopped in at a local store after work to browse, saw a like-new .44 mag Bisley on consignment for $319. The gun is perfect in every way, and that sure seemed like a good price to me, so I grabbed it.

Did I do good?:)

I really like the Bisley grip better than the std Blackhawk, as well as the hammer. Wanted adjustable sights, so this seemed like a good choice.

Oh, I agree! I have a Bisley Vaquero, and it's downright pleasant to shoot... er, for a .44 Magnum, that is. ;)

in re "pleasant to shoot"

I am somewhat of a recoil junkie. For some reason it gives me great pleasure to accurately shoot a handgun that makes a loud boom and kicks like a mule. I truly do not get the same rush shooting a 9mm or such. Hence the presence of .45's, 10mm's, .45-70's and various magnums in my safe.:D

I'm with you Hawkman!!!!!!! just added a 4 5/8" bisley v to my collection of boomers................

Hawkman,

Perhaps I should've said "Mild-shooting compared to my 3" 629." :D

I completely grok the whole 'recoil junkie' thing.

The most interesting one to shoot is my Mountain Gun with my HOT 240 grain loads in it. It has a "twist" to the recoil that I can only think is caused by the bullet beginning to spin in the short, light barrel. Not present in any other mag I own, including the 2.5" 629 I once owned.

<------------Smith & 1911 guy who must admit he likes Bisleys:)

They are more expensive here, but I like mine. I have shot it with the CorBon .45 Colt +P loads, and it did fine. I have ordered a Belt Mountain base pin to tighten the cylinder, and I will do a trigger job, but it's really a pretty good shooter, now. I might order some nicer grips for it. I have managed some 3" 50 yard groups, on the first try, so it's a good shooter.

Some day I might let Bowen or Linebaugh make a 5 shot .475 out of it, but it's really fine, right now:)

I could never get mine to shoot well; my hands just didn't fit the Bisley grip. So I consign'd it and just bought a S&W 629-6 "Trail Boss". I get to bring it home after Christmas. It may not handle the heavy loads the Bisley can, but it definitely fits me better. Still has the unfluted cylinder :)

I'm not sure why , but Bisley's have never sold well for us . I personally like the grip and hammer angle . I had one in 32 H&R mag and really enjoyed it .

Just a side note . We are selling new .357 Bisley Blackhawk's for $299 because of a special 1 time purchase . They are new , not used .
