New Bench Up & Running...

Nothing fancy,
Just a couple sheets of 3/4" plywood,
Sides and top ripped into 2'x4' panels,
Back is 4'x4'.

8 Square feet of fun on a bun!

Inset the presses this time, NO HIP BUSTER,
And come up with a way to get the turrets/dies, case gauges, shell holders, ect. organized so I don't have to dig around looking for them.

I used some of the ideas posted here,
Speed knobs on the add on boards for trimmers and such,
1/4 round between sides/back and top so the powder doesn't creep into cracks from my not so square carpentry,
Small parts don't disappear either.

It's not pretty like you guys have, but it's functional, and it fits in the space I had allowed for...
Good and solid, corners all have 1-1/2"x1-1/2" square blocks to secure sides/back, so it's solid as I can ask for.

Jeep your good to go. All the pretty in the world don't make the handle come down easier:D. Mine is like yours. I did put peg board in the back with hooks to hang stuff on.

Anyway, those pesky Lee turrets,
Drilled a fairly precise 3" hole in a 1"x 6",
Drilled slightly under size holes for brass rod cut into 'Pins' for case gauges, shell holders, ect.

Brass won't damage the case gauges,
Won't cause rust like some unfinished wood does.

To protect the dies in the turrets, I put them under another shelf,
But that made them hard to get out.
I hinged the shelf to angle down to get the stuff I need out/off the shelf.

I put a cheap power strip on the brace under the bench top, Now the case feeder, my 'Blind Old Guy' light and the case prep tools all go off at the same time.

For you guys that know Dillon, you know they not only have a tool head for the dies, but they have a BOX of parts that have to change with most caliber changes.

Bushings in the case feeder, shell plates, primer tubes and discs, just a bunch of crap...
The problem with that is, I DON'T LIKE RATTLES!

The start of killing rattles was to build the bench as solid as $80 would allow for.

The second part is to get everything fairly solid...

The big issue in that is, I'M LAZY!
What ever is easiest I'm probably going with.

The 'Best' way to keep a case gauge from rattling is to simply thread the bottom of a case through the primer hole,
And use a screw from inside down,
Or from below up,
Into that case.

The case gauge sits on the case and DOESN'T RATTLE,
And it doesn't fall off when the bench gets to rocking while I'm swagging primer pockets or pounding on something...

I DID NOT do that, but I should have.
Ran out of time/ambition.
Simple brass pin sticking up,
Turn the case gauge up side down on the pin,
Slip a case in the gauge to take up some room and give that gauge an extra added layer of protection from the vibration.
Sort of the 'Second' best way I could think of.

The shell plates for the Turret press, hand primer, swager, ect. will sit very nicely, and NOT rattle on 1/4" brass pins.

This board with brass pins and 3" holes would make a nice 'Tray' type storage unit for Turrets, accessories for the guys still having 'boxes' to store their stuff in.
(Wish I'd stole the idea sooner! :p)

FINALLY, no rattles to speak of.

I'm 54 years old, and this is the FIRST TIME I've had a PERMANENT, solid bench dedicated to reloading...
Up to now, it's been clamp on stuff on the smith bench, or the garage bench, or whatever...

I guess I'm getting old and digging in... :D

Easy. You click on the comment box. You'll see a plus sign on the left side. Click it. Then either tap on the camera to take a pic or tap on the picture looking icon to upload pic already taken. Follow from there.
 
Good deal! I too have a plain reloading bench....moved stuff 2 times to get it right, glad I figured out what I wanted just using wood. If I score/trade for a top, I will use it now that I know where I want things.
 
I must be doing something wrong, I didn't find a 'Plus' sign.

Hit post- scroll to bottom of page- see Manage attachments, click, hit choose file, Find your pic, download ( watch size ), close page and post.
