new bearcat

I love the single sixes.Have 4 of them now and always looking for more. The bearcat is next on the list for me.Its smaller than the single six and only offered with fixed sights and 1 barrel length.

I have two

here's a quick summary of em.

Both of em i have are from the early 70's.

My dad gave me one, and the other i picked up on a trade (for fixing someone's car.. )

They are small little guns, i feel like my hand dwarfs them and i'm not a huge guy.
Compared to my vaqero i would call them incredibly cute cowboy pistols.

I have never had any problem with either of them and they shoot well.
Both are consistent where they put the bullets, but one of them is not directly where the sites point while the other one is dead on.

The one that is off a little has a windage issue. But i am used to it and can correct just fine.

can't say how many rounds have been through them but it is a lot.
i take them out everytime i go target shooting.

I have the single-six and the wife has the bearcat. We have put countless rounds though both of them. Both will sure you well so pick the one you like best.

I love my old model Bearcat. Shoots right on the sights. But you have the long hammer fall and a very skinny trigger with overtravel. It's a gun that you need to "stay on top of" to get decent results. I've seen people shoot mine all over the place. Something that small and light isn't forgiving of errors. If you bear down and concentrate, the little guns can surprise you. If you get in a hurry, who knows where the bullet will go?!

Too cute not to own at least one!

I keep telling myself to buy a new one now that Ruger is finally making them in stainless. That would be the ultimate "fishing tackle box" gun.

I have an old model that my wife bought me in 1964. It has never needed any repairs or anything at all done to it. It is a small gun even for my smaller hands. My daughter used to carry it when we went fishing. A fine small revolver. Quantrill

We Have One Of The Nm Ruger Bearcats, An Early One.

As we speak it has well over 7000 rounds through it and has been an utterly deelightful single action pistol. It shoots dead on it's sights and will headshoot prairie rats out to 50 yards slick as you please. It also shoots 22SHORT ammunition very well which makes it one of my favorite all-time plinking pistols.
Mine also has factory OEM stag stocks...oh be still my heart!!!

I bought a BearCat several years ago...since then ive put countless(20,000+ EASY) rounds through it without any problems. It shoots to point of aim with any type of ammo from 5 to about 30 or so yards. Ive dropped an insane amount of tree rats, squirrels and other small rodents with it. The actions are very easily slicked up by the average DIY home gun smither. I like them more than the Single Six due to their incredably small and compact size. They make an excellent trail or camp gun. I ALWAYS carry mine as a side arm when hunting....you never know when some brave varmint will come strolling along! :D

I also have had the single six and it is a flawless gun

mine was 22/22mag and it was sooo fun to shoot! the sights suck because their so wide but besides that.... great gun!

P.S. on mine, I could cock it real hard and get it to skip a bullet in the cylinder.
it would kinda throw the cylinder. has anyones elses done this?

I've got 7 old model Bearcats and 3 Super Single Sixes. If you need a smaller revolver, go with the Bearcat, if a bigger one fits your hand better, go with a Single Six. One advantage to the Super Single Six is it has adjustable sights which the Bearcat does not.
